We made it to and from Florida in February and even got a few photos from the trip. While there we attended a wedding at which a certain 4.9 year old did not wear sweat pants and did in fact enjoy wearing his dress clothes, despite some very passionate speeches while packing the suitcases. He did insist that it was silly to tuck the tie into the vest where no one could see it, so let it be out and appreciated instead, he tried to convince Kevin to change his too but he's waiting to see which way the trend goes.
The wedding was lovely and we had a great time celebrating with Andrea and Alonso and all the family and long long time friends.
How about this nice family photo taken at the wedding? How did we get Silas to pose for this exceptionally rare photo you ask?...
"Hey Silas if you pose for a picture with us you can serve yourself a bag of sugar from the CANDY BUFFET!"
very effective.
He sweated it off on the dance floor with the lovely Aunt Cookie. Sadly it was too dark to get good video footage of Silas's new dance moves. But he was workin' it.
As usual he gladly posed for a photo with Uncle J, no candy bribe needed.
Silas took a few photos on this trip as well. Some were posed "And now I want to take a picture of cousin Luke and Daddy" and so it happens:
and other photos are caught on the run... literally, with the camera in hand around the poolside... Hello Grandma Jane!
While in Florida we engaged in a favorite pastime: tossing stale bread crumbs to the fish, turtles, coots, and other water birds. Here we are on Aunt Betty's bench waiting for the diners.
We also got to visit the 2 great grandma's. Silas is obsessed with big numbers so anyone who is 91 (Grammie) and 94 (Meemaw) is very interesting to bring up in discussions of mathematical comparisons. The phrase "But not as old as MEEMAW or GRAMMIE!" comes up quite often. Not to mention the fact that they offer such wonders as giant claw gripper tools to play with and unending supplies of cookies.
And on the other end of the age spectrum: we got to play with cousin Owen who just started walking and we got to meet cousin Sophia!
And if that wasn't enough fun we also got to hang out with cousin Richie at J, Brittney and Sophia's house, hence forth known as: SOS Goat Farm (Silas, Owen, and Sophia are the 3 grandkids not the goat kids) And every modern farm needs a golf cart for hauling children around.
Here's a bit of the baby goat petting fun.
There was this other little outing we went on, to a place called DINOSAUR WORLD! this is quickly becoming a destination of legend in our house. Silas is wearing his dino shirt from there in the above photo, and he's been wearing it every day-after-laundry day since. He built a large fortress of blocks today and called it "Shark World" complete with toy sharks and a hand written sign with the name. But up until this day he has played with his new mini dinos or pretended to be a dino (Postosuchus, Leopleurodon, Allosaurus and T Rex are the faves) pretty much non-stop since we got back. Can you guess his theme of choice for his birthday cake this year?
So where are the photos of this amazing visit? Thank goodness Auntie Nicole came along that day with all her cameras! we are still figuring out how to post them
And to top it all off we had a pool party in February with as many little people as we could round up, Nanny even made mac and cheese to warm the swimmers back up, and Papa made...
a fire!
